Inspired by the success of Silver Summit 2003, the Silver Valley Mining Association is pleased to announce Silver Summit 2004 - a three-day event featuring silver properties and investment opportunities in northern Idaho's fabulous Coeur d'Alene Mining District.

Slated for Sept. 23-25 at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Silver Summit 2004 will feature keynote presentations by

  • Coeur d'Alene Mines Chairman and CEO Dennis Wheeler
  • Hecla Mining Company CEO and President Phillips S. Baker, Jr.
  • Mogambo Guru Richard Daughty
  • Silver-Investor.com editor David Morgan
  • goldismoney.com editor Jason Hommel

Before this year's Silver Summit, the SVMA will host full tours of the area's deep-shaft mines, including the Lucky Friday, the Galena, the Golden Chest and the Bunker Hill. The three-hour underground tours will be conducted in the early morning on Thursday, September 23, by Hecla, Coeur Silver Valley, New Jersey and Bunker Hill mining company mine managers. A total of 24 tours are available for a price of $100, first come first served. All proceeds from the tours will go to the community, educational and charitable activities conducted by the Silver Valley Mining Association and are tax-deductible.

The Friday, September 24, Conference will feature presentations by the Summit's keynote speakers, as well as from area silver mining companies and community officials. Attendees will be able to familiarize themselves with a wide variety of properties and companies displaying their information in the conference hall. A hosted cocktail hour will follow the day's activities.

Saturday, September 25, will feature an optional tour of the Silver Valley, including a bus trip from Coeur d'Alene to Wallace, a tour of the Sierra Silver Mine and the Crystal Gold Mine, and a catered lunch at the historic Jameson Restaurant in Wallace. Tickets will be available at the conference. The cost for the tour is $75 per person and includes lunch.

The Silver Valley is known as a four-season mountain recreation paradise, and the historic town of Wallace (pop. 960) is known as "The Silver Capital of the World." With three museums, a mine tour and many places to buy silver jewelry, the charm of this town entirely on the National Registry of Historic Places is captivating. As are the majestic mountains that surround the town. Eighty percent of the county is public land so the possibilities for outdoor adventures abound... and they are growing! For example, the new 72-mile-long paved Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes bike path follows the century long route of ore cars from the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan downstream to Wallace, past the other mines in the Silver Valley, through the isolated chain lakes region, along the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene, over a bridge and up a canyon to Plummer on the Palouse Prairie. Why not bring the entire family, stay an extra day or two, rent some bikes and see it all?
